Final Paper

Your final paper should be on some topic of your choice that is related to stratification.  It can include data analysis (but does not have to) and should be typed, double-spaced, and 15-25 pages without the bibliography.  Most importantly, it should be about something you find interesting enough to develop into a master's thesis, dissertation proposal, or publication.

As outlined below and on the course calendar, I will ask for periodic updates to make sure you are making adequate progress.  All of the mini-assignments below should be typed and double-spaced.

One paragraph proposal

Write one paragraph that describes a possible topic for your final paper.

Two paragraphs and commitment to a topic for final paper

Commit yourself to a topic by writing another paragraph on your paper’s theme.

Two-page summary and annotated bibliography

Write two-pages that summarize what your literature review has taught you so far.  Then, attach an annotated bibliography that describes the ten most relevant sources you have found.

One-page outline

Write a one-page outline of your final paper.

Draft

Exchange complete drafts of your paper with two other classmates and provide each other with constructive, written comments.

(Everyone who reads and comments on your paper should be acknowledged on your title page.)

Final Draft

The final version of your paper must be in my mailbox by Monday, December 12th at 5:00.
